Gee Liz, how shocked I am to learn that Charlie Trotter was born in 1959. I’ve read all his books and just assumed he was much older to be so wise in the industry. I was saddened to read of his restaurant closing last year as it has always on my bucket list to visit Chicago and experience his restaurant. Thanks for the news. All the best, Jane

I know, Jane, what a terrible loss. But how it speaks to his culinary legacy, that he influenced so many, and achieved so much, in such a short time. I have many of his books as well; in fact, they were the first cookbooks I bought just for the photos. I’m going to pull one out and cook a meal from it this weekend, as a tribute.
