It seems like only yesterday I reviewed the Elephant’s Eye Cafe; at the time I loved the food so much I thought the owner should clear out the tchotchkes and various things for sale and put in more tables. And, eventually, that’s what Daphne Hocquard and partner Brenda Critch did, putting out fresh, inventive meals from an impossibly tiny kitchen.
But all good things must come to an end, and word is out that the Elephant’s Eye will shut for good around mid-December, over a decade since they served their first lunch special. AllNovaScotia reports that the decision is based on a rent increase.
Elephants never forget, it’s said; in this case, the Elephant’s Eye will not be forgotten.
