Television’s Urban Peasant, James Barber, passed away in December. I’ll always remember the Urb, who fell in between the old Galloping Gourmet days and today’s slick Food Network shows, for his “If I can do it, anyone can” style of cooking. He loved to put a splash of booze in just about everything, and kept his cooking style at the level of the average viewer (something today’s top tv chef’s are not all good at).
