Hurricane food

High winds are battering the house as the downgraded Hurricane Noel sweeps through my part of the world. Brings to mind memories of 03’s Hurricane Juan, who made the dangers of ignoring hurricane warnings clear to Haligonians.
Fortunately, the most my neighbourhood suffered was a little loss of siding, and electricity. With the insanely mild weather in the days following Juan, we turned to barbecues for using up our rapidly thawing freezer contents, and got together at each other’s homes for supper. I made couscous and Moroccan chicken (thank you, side burner), and I’ve never been able to make it taste as good since. And while there was definitely a party atm0sphere for our neighbourhood, we knew just how lucky we were to have escaped relatively unscathed and mildly inconvenienced.
Here’s hoping Noel blows through as breathlessly as a tween at a Hannah Montana concert.
